Beyond Cub Scout Ranks: Other Awards

What Else Can We Do?

Did you know you can earn more than 90 awards as a Cub Scout? Beyond ranks and adventures, (badges) youth may earn other awards.

What Are Some Examples of Additional Awards?

Cub Scout World Conservation Award

This award helps Scout to "think globally" and "act locally" to preserve and improve our environment. There are separate requirements for Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Scouts.

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award

Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Scouts may earn the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award in each of their ranks. This award recognizes Scouts for taking part in outdoor recreation and conservation projects. The first time it is earned the Scout will receive a pocket flap award, and each successive time it is earned a wolf track pin is added.

Cub Scout and Leaders Outdoor Ethics Award

Learn more about how to be an outdoor steward! This award takes you and your Den leader or family outside to see impacts and figure out ways to address them. You get to learn about other awards and how to help the MN Department of Natural Resources control invasive species. On completion you earn the Outdoor Ethics patch. This recognizes Cub Scouts and leaders who know how to reduce impacts of outdoor activities.

Emergency Preparedness Award

Emergency Preparedness means being ready for all kinds of emergencies. It means you're equipped to help in times of trouble, save lives, and help a community get back to normal after a disaster.

Religious Emblems

To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, many religious groups have programs for young people to earn a religious emblem. More information about individual Religious Emblems can be found on the Religious Emblems page in related content.

STEM/Nova Awards

A Wolf, Bear, or Webelos Scout who loves science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) might try to earn a Nova Award which includes a patch followed by three more pins. Each pin represents one of the four STEM topics. The Supernova awards have more challenging requirements and more in-depth achievements.

Medals

Cub Scouts who compete in derbies, field days, and other competitive events can win medals to wear on their uniform. See your local Scout Shop for a variety of medals.

National Summertime Pack Awards

Packs can earn this certificate and ribbon for their flag by planning and conducting three summertime activities. Dens with half their members at the three activities are eligible for a participation ribbon. Scouts who participate in all three activities are eligible to receive the National Summertime Pack Award pin to wear on their uniform. The pin color changes each year, so try and collect as many as possible!
