Troop 96 Celebrates Reaching 25 Eagle Scouts
Scouts, families, church and Scout leaders celebrated reaching the milestone of 25 Eagles in the troop’s history with the presentation of four Eagles on July 10. The special ceremony awarded Langston Butler, Isaac Commodore, Sean Corrie and Kenneth Ejiofor with their Eagle ranks.
Scoutmaster Dr. Bruce Corrie welcomed special guests who spoke a few words to commemorate the occasion and review some troop history. These included William Butchee, the founding leader of the troop and Dwayne Billups, a leader from nearby Troop 61 at Pilgrim Baptist Church who has provided important support and leadership throughout the troop’s history.
The names of all 25 Eagles were read by troop 96 former scoutmaster Jeff Sheehan and several the Scouts were in attendance. Each did a self-introduction and shared what they were doing today. The program listed and celebrated past Troop 96 leaders and those who were present were introduced. There was lots of applause!
Of course, the highlight was the presentation of the four Eagle Scouts! The four new Eagles plus two 2020 Eagles, Ignatius Ejiofor and Tedabi O’Gorman, were also provided letters of commendation from President Joe Biden and Governor Tim Walz as special recognitions of their accomplishments. Congratulations Scouts and Troop 96.
